A study into the motorsport industry in Franklin initiated by Enterprise Franklin Development Trust indicated that establishing a Motorsport Industry Cluster centred in Franklin would have a major impact on the export potential of Franklin District, the Auckland Region and the New Zealand motorsport industry overall!!

Motorplex NZ will consist of:

• a specifically zoned automotive industry business park
• a tertiary education unit delivering a high level motorsport qualification to service both the industry and the sport
• a showcase National Motorsport Museum for technology and business
• business incubators and research and development facilities

Motorplex NZ will have the capacity to:

• increase exports
• collaborate to grow business and industry
• identify challenges
• support youth into motorsport employment
• support facility development for the sport
• assist with research and development
• support an automotive motorsport business park, a motorsport museum, sporting events and advanced driver training
